Description

There are certain key factors that any business needs to consider to be successful and they are particularly important when considering new market entry. In the session you will learn about seven main factors that you need to bear in mind when entering the US market like your sales proposition, pricing or getting paid. You need to think about your shipping options and understand business behaviour of your American partners to make your business a success in the market.

You will also learn about business opportunities for different sectors. You will get an overview of the US states where signed agreements with the UK (MOUs) are in place, which states are in the pipeline, and the target sectors by state.

Furthermore, you will learn specific step-by-step planning and strategy essentials in order to better understand how to enter or expand in the US market.  The presentation will use specific case studies of companies who have successfully developed the US market and discuss the challenges that were encountered during the development process.

Malcolm Gresty

Malcolm deals with companies, face to face to help them achieve their exporting ambitions. He is an Engineer by background, has run his own Business Development Consultancy for 14 years and ran a Construction Equipment Manufacturing company for five years, selling equipment across the world.

Malcolm joined the Department in January 2024; however, he has been involved in Exporting and Export Support activities for more than twenty years and brings a commercial edge to the role. As an Engineer by trade, he has run his own company for five years, selling equipment across the world.

Steve Lanier

President, American World Services

Steve Lanier has been actively helping European SMEs for over 25 years to develop the United States as an export market. Since the establishment of American World Services, he has worked with hundreds of companies and organizations developing their marketing activities in the US. He brings years of expertise in developing customized strategies for all of his clients. Steve frequently presents at workshops and conferences using various case studies to demonstrate how to develop effective marketing strategies for the US market.
