Grimshaw: Pioneering sustainable architecture in the Middle East
Grimshaw is a place of ideas and invention. For over 40 years, this international architecture practice has delivered compelling and pioneering designs that are precedent-setting and innately attuned to place, people and our planet.
The practice is guided by a commitment to excellence, pursuing projects that serve the public, evolve the built environment industry and build a better future for people and communities. It has set benchmarks in sustainable leadership, pledging to design net zero, carbon-ready buildings by 2025 and socially and environmentally regenerative buildings and assets by 2030.
Across all building typologies and sectors, master planning and industrial design, the practice drives environmental and social change, challenging conventional ways of living through its buildings and infrastructure. This perspective has created lasting architecture that is balanced with nature, actively promoting health and well-being for all.
Operating from eight studios around the world – London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Dubai, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland – the practice combines global reach with local sensitivity. With a network of international knowledge and collaboration, it brings forward innovation. Through this collective ingenuity comes beauty, creating places that spark joy and have a real impact.
The practice completed its first major project in the Middle East in 2020 with the completion of The Sustainability Pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai. The project reflects Grimshaw’s work in the region: context-driven and responsive, inspired by nature and empowered to design sustainable regenerative places.
