They have a complex supply chain that requires constant monitoring to remain customs compliant in a rapidly evolving landscape. The first issue to address was the commodity codes of the imported materials and also the exported final product. Then reports as to whether the exported products require export licenses in order to be sold legally to some export markets. In order for their customers to claim preferential rates of import duty, they may be asked to prove that their goods are UK origin as some of the inputs are sourced from China. Working remotely over a period of 6 months, The ITC classified the imported materials and exported products. Investigations were carried out as to whether export licenses were required and written reports provided for Valro to give to customs authorities if requested.
