WJ Sunstone featured with Highways England for Innovation

This project was to design and build four Solar IP CCTV System (SICS) for Highways, which can be quickly and easily deployed to required locations and provide surveillance.

Each Solar IP CCTV System will relay surveillance via the integrated access point to an available network connection and onto Highways England Video Management System (VMS) via the internet. The SICS will trial 3 variants of communication technology; Wireless Point to Point, Cellular 3G/4G and Satellite communications. Reliability and effectiveness of each variant will be assessed.

This innovation won an award for the “Security Project or Installation of the Year 2017” at the Security and Fire Excellence Awards. The award was given for our Solar IP cameras delivered through Kier in Area 9. The collaboration between Kier Highways Limited and WJ Sunstone delivered a rapid deployable system in 28 days.
