At the Chair of Construction Management and Construction Processes at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, innovative methods for digitization in construction as well as the integration, use and testing of existing and newly acquired data in connection with BIM (Building Information Modeling) are being investigated. In some cases, several specially trained specialists, each with their own special technology, are required to obtain building-related data (spatial data, thermal data, acoustic data, etc.). In addition to the high level of coordination required, data collection and evaluation is also made more difficult by the shortage of specialists and is therefore often inflexible, incomplete and costly.
As a result, current developments in the field of artificial intelligence, in particular machine learning, are only transferred to the construction industry to a limited extent. Against this background, the Chair of Construction Management and Construction Processes aims to research the usability of mobile robot platforms for data acquisition and analysis on construction sites and in new and existing buildings.
