In recent years, a cybersecurity laboratory has been established at the German Center for Rail Transport Research (DZSF) in Dresden. This laboratory is used to carry out a wide range of analyses in the field of cybersecurity for rail transport. For example, it is used as a test, evaluation and development environment for cybersecurity solutions, as well as a platform for determining the resilience of installed security solutions and for safety and security validation using automated tests. The long-term goal is the further development of cybersecurity solutions in rail transport. In addition to the cybersecurity laboratory, the DZSF also has an ETCS simulation laboratory, which is a customized development by Clearsy Safety Solution Designer from Strasbourg. With this simulation laboratory, it is possible to investigate the interaction of various components of the control and safety technology (LST) with vehicles and rail infrastructure through complex simulated route runs. An important goal of the DZSF is to technically expand the cybersecurity laboratory and make it suitable for practical tests. Another medium-term goal of the DZSF is to link the ETCS laboratory with the cybersecurity laboratory in such a way that extensive cybersecurity investigations in the area of control and safety technology (LST) are possible. In order to achieve both goals, an external consulting service is required in the field of cybersecurity and LST, which closely accompanies and supports the work of the scientific speakers at the DZSF.
