Description

VGN Resources Group Inc. (VGN) will be the Program Administrator for projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's (Ministry) extension programming for environment and climate change.  This RFP and project is administered by VGN on behalf of the Ministry.The Extension and Support Services Branch is delivering Regional Extension Projects and other programs to help producers focus on climate adaptation, climate mitigation and environmental sustainability. The ability to adopt practices on farm that meet the broader Ministry goals can help with the resiliency, profitability, and long-term sustainability of farms and ranches.  ​Research indicates that farmer-led programs in Canada and around the world can help improve the quality and increase the uptake of practices. The research can assist with improving the quality and quantity of on-farm data collection. It can assist with community knowledge transfer and help with providing the data and information needed for farmers to uptake new practices.  The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is seeking professional services to deliver on farm demonstrations and associated field days comparing various tillage practices that improve soil health and store water and carbon. The purpose of this contract is to: ​ Increase farmer-led research projects happening in the Central Interior Region and access to information to support informed decision making.  ​Host field days that provide clear communications on the outcomes of the three tillage practices (no till, reduced till and tillage).  Including information on crop production costs, other unanticipated outcomes, changes to soil health, soil moisture, and carbon storage. ​Integrate on-farm demonstration with these Ministry initiatives:  Soil Health Assessment Protocol Pilot, Soils 101 Module on Tillage and BMPs.
