Description

Three additional buildings are to be erected on the site of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe Chamber of Crafts in Bielefeld. Various preliminary investigations have shown that there is a thick anthropogenic backfill of soils and mineral waste (e.g. foundry sands and building rubble) on the site, followed by silty sands and subsequently weathered claystone. External disposal of large quantities of soil (>100,000 t) is required for the realization of the construction project, as the future building structures cannot be realized on the current surface level. The ground heights above sea level compared to the planning height for the new building show that soil erosion of up to over 5 m is to be expected. The investigations carried out revealed a wide range of chemical qualities in the fill. While some fill areas are inconspicuous and correspond to the EBV material value BM-0* for uncontaminated soil material, the material value BM-F3 is exceeded in places, so that in some places the fill material is to be classified as landfill material corresponding to landfill class I (DK I). The above-mentioned facts therefore result in the following fields of activity for the bidders:- Removal of all vegetation in the future construction area, including all remaining rootstocks - Separation of the gravel layer in the parking lot area and provision on the property for later construction purposes - Collection of the mineral fill and separation of the construction waste, and non-mineral admixtures on site using a screening and sorting plant- Separation of potentially occurring "pollutant nests" and secured provision on the property for waste analysis- After sorting, the construction waste must be recycled, the metals must be recycled appropriately and the non-mineral admixtures must be disposed of properly- The soil material resulting from the screening and sorting process must be transported directly from the property to an approved staging area or to a specialist disposal company. The soil material resulting from the screening and sorting process is to be transported directly from the property to an approved staging area or to a specialist waste disposal company and stored there in piles for sampling by the client's expert- After the results of the waste analysis have been presented, the soil material is to be transported from the staging area to appropriate disposal facilities- The clean, natural soil is to be removed down to the level of the rough subgrade and transported to suitable recycling sites- Natural soil arising during the shell construction work is to be provided on site as a secured main structure and is to be recycled externally by the bidder at a later date. The responsible body for the construction project for the new campus is the Chamber of Crafts Ostwestfalen-Lippe zu Bielefeld.
