Description
According to Annex II of the Habitats Directive, the wolf is a species of Community interest. The EU Member States are obliged to monitor the conservation status of the wolf and to ensure or bring about the favorable conservation status of the species. Comprehensive monitoring is carried out in the state of Brandenburg to monitor the conservation status of the population. In order to reduce conflicts associated with the reintroduction of the wolf, the state of Brandenburg has developed a wolf management system that is based on monitoring the wolf population, promoting herd protection measures for grazing animals and compensating for damage to livestock caused by wolves. These principles are flanked by the BbgWolfV, which regulates further management measures.
