The subject of the tender is the renovation of the path and square areas at Rheinfels Castle in St. Goar.
The castle, which was built in the 13th century, is an important cultural monument and one of the main attractions in the Middle Rhine Valley. The walls are currently being extensively renovated. Their renovation is expected to be completed in 2028.
The renovation of other areas, particularly the paths, is necessary to ensure safety and accessibility for the expected streams of visitors, especially in view of the 2029 Federal Horticultural Show.
This renovation work now includes the renewal and repair of the existing paths and square areas, taking into account monument conservation requirements as well as the protection and preservation of the historic building fabric.
Particular attention is to be paid to the use of materials that meet both conservation and functional requirements. This includes the careful use of natural stone and the integration of the measures into the existing landscape. In addition, measures to improve accessibility must be implemented in order to facilitate access to the castle for all visitors.
The planning and implementation of the renovation must be embedded in an overall landscaping concept that takes into account the existing garden and vegetation areas. The renovation work should be carried out in close coordination with the relevant monument authorities and other specialist disciplines involved in order to ensure harmonious and sustainable implementation.
A total budget of approx. 4 million euros net is planned for the renovation measures. As part of the BUGA 2029 exhibition area, the measure is to be completed by 1\/2028. Short section of parking lots and Reuschepark as a connection to the city.
