The purpose is to establish the Intergenerational Agency for Saxony, which bundles, communicates and generates knowledge and information for senior citizens and intergenerational work throughout the state. As a state-wide and cross-thematic institution, the Generations Agency is a source of inspiration, communicator and coordinator and supports existing offers in publicizing, networking and further development.

Existing services for senior citizens and generations must be made better known to a broader group of interested parties in a suitable form and initiatives for new services must be encouraged that are as intergenerational as possible. To this end, it is necessary to focus on the diversity of potentials, experiences and perspectives in the various phases of life. The networking and expansion of advisory, information and educational structures for the target group of older people also requires cooperation with providers, clubs, associations and stakeholders of services for older people, but also with those for the age group of children, adolescents and young adults.

Work with senior citizens and generations usually takes place locally. Accordingly, the local level of stakeholders and the nationwide activities of the intergenerational agency should be linked. In terms of location, the intergenerational agency should focus on areas outside the district-free cities.

The Generations Agency should establish itself as a service agency for issues concerning the older generations and for intergenerational work and exchange. The demographic developments should be contrasted with potentials and opportunities that ensure cohesion and participation. At the same time, the agency should be a source of inspiration and service provider for politicians, administrators, interest groups, clubs, associations and other social players at local, regional and state level in Saxony and promote exchange between them. It should be a source of experience and pass on its knowledge to the network, make it publicly available to the generations themselves and coordinate consulting services and cooperation. In addition, the Generations Agency will develop its own projects and offer events for the (specialist) public.

The Generations Agency complements and links senior citizens' policy work at state, municipal and regional level, as well as linking specialist stakeholders with the social level. This can be achieved, for example, through multipliers and network partners. In the spirit of reciprocity, the intergenerational agency should bundle the suggestions it receives and its findings and make them available to the (specialist) public. In addition, the regular exchange with the specialist unit in the SMS (Senior Citizens' Policy Unit) should support the further development of senior citizens' policy work in the relevant fields of action.
