The public broadcasters are absolutely dependent on an efficient and functioning IT infrastructure to fulfill their tasks. This also includes industry standard servers in 19" format, which are mainly used in the data centers of the individual broadcasting stations, but also for other tasks.
The client and the beneficiaries must use these server systems both for new tasks within the scope of projects of individual specialist departments and for renewal within the scope of existing tasks. The strategy is to provide a standardized machine platform with powerful and scalable server systems for the Microsoft Windows, VMware ESXi and SUSE Linux Enterprise platforms. Today, more than 95% of all tasks can be solved with this standard platform. This approach makes administration, ensuring regular operation and maintenance of the machines to be supported considerably easier.
The server systems are integrated into various management environments by the client and the authorized users. In detail, these are
? Fully automatic software distribution with initial start via the network.
? Central evaluation of all hardware-related system messages.
? Central terminal access via an existing KVM system.
? Remote initiation of a restart via a separately accessible operating system-independent IP interface.
Under the leadership of Südwestrundfunk (SWR), this EU-wide procurement procedure is intended to conclude a framework agreement with a contractor for the supply and maintenance of standard industrial servers in 19" format.
In addition to SWR as the contractual partner of this framework agreement, the following public broadcasters as well as their subsidiaries and associated companies, provided that the participation of the public broadcasters is at least 50%, are involved in this framework agreement as beneficiaries:

Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg
? Information Processing Center (IVZ), represented by
Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg
? Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR)
? Südwestrundfunk (SWR)
? ? Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR)
Joint institutions (GSEA) for which the respective beneficiary has the lead management are also entitled to subscribe. The contractual contents contained in this framework agreement apply equally to all beneficiaries.
The framework agreement shall be concluded for an initial term of 24 months and two extension options of 12 months each. The extension options shall be exercised by the client and shall also apply to all beneficiaries under this framework agreement.
The framework agreement begins on 01.01.2025.
The main services put out to tender via this procurement procedure are:
?conclusion of a framework agreement for the supply of standard industrial servers (x86) of different heights from one manufacturer, including a manufacturer's warranty of 60 months and next working day on-site service.
Optional services are:
?additional equipment variants of the standard industrial servers
?extension of the manufacturer's warranty from 60 to 72 or 84 months
?manufacturer's warranty of 60, 72 and 84 months incl. on-site service with reduced response and recovery time.
