Description

The aim of the commission is to identify efficient, plausible and robust transformation paths for the German energy system up to 2045. To this end, new scenarios are to be modeled on the basis of the previous BMWK long-term scenarios, which, among other things, achieve Germany's energy and climate policy goals. The scenarios are being developed to analyze an optimized transformation of the energy system, with important aspects being the detailed mapping of energy demand, energy supply, costs and the necessary infrastructures (e.g. grids, storage facilities) and their safe operation. The models take into account regional and sectoral differences, greenhouse gas emissions and carbon storage. The results are to be presented to the public and made accessible in an understandable way.
