Description

The main objective of the project is to implement the target set by the Bavarian state parliament as part of the "Save the bees" referendum to halve the use of chemically synthesized plant protection products (csPSM) by 2028.
A secondary objective is to prepare for the upcoming requirements to reduce the use of plant protection products through the amendment of the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the sustainable use of plant protection products (SUR).
Sub-objectives of the project are:
I. Maximum possible savings in csPSM through - application of alternative plant protection measures - use of digital technology - implementation of damage threshold concepts and forecasting methods - adaptation of crop rotations and - selection of resilient varieties at farm level in main crops in the Bavarian arable farming regions through implementation of case-control trials.
II. accompanying research for the testing and development of alternative cultivation methods and cultivation concepts (e.g. regenerative agriculture, hybrid agriculture, wide-row system, carbon farming, etc.) at farm level (on-farm research).
III. farm network as a basis for the further training of technical advisors to reduce the use of plant protection products and for the training of farmers in the use of alternative plant protection measures (multiplier effect!).
