The client / AG Studierendenwerk Karlsruhe AöR is building a residential complex for students on the grounds of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Campus East, the site of the former Mackensen barracks, with the postal address Rintheimer Querallee 2, 76131 Karlsruhe (parcel no. 22808/38) The planned student residential complex is to be built in an existing, listed barracks building (former staff building), which will be gutted, renovated and converted accordingly. The building consists of a main building, a bunker facility and an extension from the 1970s:- Listed barracks building (former staff building / gutting)- New service building with bunker facility (already demolished)- Waste building (already demolished)The façade of the existing building was cleared of later extensions and supplemented to create a symmetrical or historical view. The three entrances, the stairwells, the ceilings, the load-bearing walls and the shell of the building will be retained and the existing building will be preserved, supplemented and renovated in accordance with the requirements of the preservation order. The statics will not be changed.
