Description
The city of Braunschweig is planning the construction of a new canteen and a two-subject sports hall to be used jointly by the Lessinggymnasium, which will have five pupils, and the Wenden elementary school, which will have four pupils, in the Braunschweig district of Wenden, with the necessary construction of a new canteen with kitchen and ancillary rooms to cover the lunch requirements for both the Wenden elementary school and the Lessinggymnasium. The existing canteen at Lessinggymnasium is not sufficient for the number of pupils expected in the future. In future, lunch is to be offered for secondary school pupils in the new canteen area, which will require the following infrastructure for both schools: a divisible canteen with kitchen and ancillary rooms for a total of approx. 380 lunches in three shifts at Wenden elementary school and approx. 360 lunches in two shifts at Lessinggymnasium. A fresh kitchen as well as cook & chill or cook & freeze is conceivable as a production method for both schools, with the elementary school serving the food in bowls and the Lessinggymnasium on trays. Furthermore, the canteen should also be able to be used as a multifunctional auditorium for the elementary school (e.g. for the school enrolment ceremony). For the elementary school canteen section, an area of 154 m2 is to be assumed in accordance with the standard room program for all-day elementary school; for the secondary school canteen section, an area of 213 m2 is to be assumed in accordance with the standard room program for secondary schools. If possible, the entire canteen area should be used for multifunctional use. The entire kitchen area should not exceed 265 m2. Synergies to reduce the kitchen area should be examined, and the sports hall should be based on the approved room program, which is based on the standard room program for the construction of new sports halls (SRP). As the three-court sports hall at Lessinggymnasium already has a grandstand for spectators, the grandstand in the new two-court sports hall is to be dispensed with. The sports hall has a hall area of 990 m2 and a clear height of 8 m, in accordance with the specifications in the space allocation plan. The sports hall/cafeteria building is to be built as a single structure and will have a shared foyer, which will also contain a sufficient number of toilets. The canteen will not have separate WCs. The building should be positioned in such a way that it can be reached by pupils from both types of school via a short and safe route. The planned location on the grounds of the Lessinggymnasium ensures this; the remaining sports field areas will be developed in advance and the building will be constructed in accordance with the KFW 40 NH standard with possible funding and certification.
