Description
DB InfraGO AG's "Bike+Ride Offensive" and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) are supporting cities and municipalities in building new bicycle parking spaces at train stations as part of the National Climate Protection Initiative. The BMWK funding is intended to create as many new bicycle parking spaces as possible at train stations throughout Germany by the end of 2027 (it is currently unclear whether the BMWK program will be continued after 2027). The common goal is to promote the switch from car to bicycle and rail by making the station more attractive for cyclists and creating sufficient, organized and safe bicycle parking facilities. As part of the Bike+Ride campaign, more than 20,000 parking spaces have been created at train stations since 2020 and more than 90 collective locking systems and well over 120 shelters have been installed.
The installation of publicly accessible and lockable bicycle storage facilities, with flexible booking options and covered bicycle parking facilities, is intended to increase the attractiveness of using private bicycles and pedelecs as a means of getting to the station and thus help to relieve congestion on the roads and in car parking spaces. The installation of the bike-sharing facilities, combined with a nationwide booking and access system that is attractive, clear and easy to use for users, should significantly increase the use of private bikes and pedelecs and consequently also become even more important in the public perception.
To ensure that interested cities and municipalities can continue to order collective locking systems and bicycle rack shelters as quickly and easily as possible, DB InfraGO AG is carrying out a new invitation to tender (as a service for interested municipalities), as the existing framework agreement for the manufacture, delivery and installation of collective locking systems and bicycle rack shelters is scheduled to expire in October 2024.
DB InfraGO AG is putting this framework agreement out to tender as the body\/client handling the contract, but is not itself the customer for the framework agreement services.
Interested cities and municipalities will be able to call up the agreed framework agreement services on a project-by-project basis. The individual contractual relationships are regulated on a project-specific basis between the municipality as the customer and the framework agreement partner as the contractor in the individual agreement to the framework agreement.
In this constellation, Deutsche Bahn AG acts as the central procurement office.
