Description

As part of the spawning ground mapping, the number and positions of spawning beds in selected salmonid waters and parameters for assessing spawning ground quality are to be recorded. This activity is being standardized for the first time this spawning season as a joint project in cooperation with the State Office for Agriculture and Fisheries (LALLF) and the non-profit association for salmonid and water protection in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Spawning bed counts are a clear method for detecting and quantifying spawning activity in wild waters and incipient or ongoing natural reproduction in former or current stocking waters. The results of the spawning bed counts are therefore an effective means of calibrating the counts of ascending spawners. Based on the assumption that at least one pair of spawners was active per spawning bed, a minimum number of sea trout is obtained for the water body during the spawning period. This allows a comparison with the video-optical count data in the reference waters, as well as a check of the spawners calculated in the model.
From this spawning season onwards, a detailed survey of the composition of the river bed will not be carried out. To assess the quality of spawning grounds, standardized nationwide parameters will be collected from this season onwards in consultation with the stakeholders involved.
A detailed report will also be dispensed with from this spawning season onwards. The data collected will be transferred as a vector data storage format "shapefile" (ESRI). Protocols and photo documentation are handed over digitally to the client.
When the contract is awarded, a "shapefile" in vector data storage format (ESRI) with the watercourse sections to be surveyed and the parameters (attributes) to be recorded is handed over. These reflect potential spawning site regions as well as known spawning stretches. This "shapefile" represents the standardized handover format after processing the order. The contract is awarded in lots.
The detailed specifications are attached to the invitation to tender.
