Description
VGN Resources Group Inc. (VGN) will be the Program Administrator for projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's (Ministry) extension programming for environment and climate change. This RFP and project is administered by VGN on behalf of the Ministry. In recent decades, research in soil biology has made significant advances in understanding key processes and their vital role for soil resilience to environmental stresses, climate change mitigation, carbon sequestration, enhanced soil fertility. However, there is a lack of resources that provide accessible, scientifically robust, and unbiased information, connecting academic research with practical agricultural decision-making.This project aims to bridge that gap by creating educational materials on soil biology specifically designed for farmers and extension professionals.Key intended outcomes include:• A comprehensive science-based reference document for growers and extension professionals covering essential soil biology concepts relevant to agricultural practices.• An enhanced understanding among growers of how various best management practices affect soil biological activity, leading to increased adoption of effective soil management strategies.• Insights for growers and extension professionals into the interpretation, opportunities, and limitations of biological soil health indicators and assessment methods.• A nuanced understanding of the value of soil health tests and biological growth-enhancing products among growers and extension professionals.
