Description

SBH | Schulbau Hamburg, as a state-owned enterprise of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (hereinafter referred to as SBH), has the task of planning, building, maintaining and managing school properties in accordance with economic principles, taking into account school requirements, and of leasing the more than 400 schools to the Ministry of Schools and Vocational Training (BSB).

The replacement building on Grellkamp represents a major restructuring of the site. The two-storey building will house administrative areas, a vitality kitchen and canteen area, as well as classes and specialist rooms. The spacious canteen and communal area with a stage is a first floor assembly area. Four large compartments will be built on the upper floor, which will be accessed via staircases with necessary corridors in between. Heat will be generated by district heating and PV panels will be installed on the roof areas. The new building will receive funding for climate-friendly new construction (KfN) and will be DGNB Gold certified as part of this. The chosen load-bearing structure, a mixture of reinforced concrete and timber construction, reduces the construction time and allows both subsequent conversions and the use of sustainable building materials. A timber façade is planned for the outer shell.
