Questions and Answers
1. Where is the place of performance? As referenced on the solicitation:
Perry Point VA Medical Center
361 Boiler House Rd
Perry Point, MD 21902
2. The solicitation calls for rentals. By no means does this mean purchase? This is for rentals only we are not purchasing any containers.
3. Do you have records for what the typical weights are for the compactors and open-top containers?Â
We do not have the weights for the compactor and open-top containers.
4. How do you suggest recycling linens? If they are clean, can we donate? They cannot be donated. We will advise where they will be taken to.
5. In 1.1.7. Front-load trucks do not have the weighing capability for a single container. Is there a specific method that is being requested by the VA to get the weights? Is this absolutely necessary? Â You may use the difference in weight from an empty truck and after it is full. The total weight is what is needed and does not have to reflect individual containers. We use this weight for reporting purpose.
6. What type of electrical boxes/service is available for the compactors? Are any chutes or additional specifications required as part of the compactor other than the odor control? There are no chutes on the current compactor. There is a 110-volt power source and a 60 amp 240V AC Max HP15 Safety Switch available. The vendor can work with our Electricians on power source solutions.
7. For the pricing pages there are several CLINs that refer to rental and service that show 104/52/12 as service frequencies. Can you clarify if each CLIN (104/52/12) is for a single container or does each CLIN represent all containers which are represented in the Statement of work? Each CLIN represent all containers which are represented in the statement of work.
8. Would the Government consider revising the pricing pages related to the CLINs for rental and service as these are typically combined and tend to create an administrative burden to bill when invoiced separately. No. This requirement will be for an Indefinite-Delivery Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract. All quantities are estimated at this time. Pricing should be given for CLINs provided. The VA will issue task orders against the IDIQ contract with the quantities needed for a 1-year period.
9. 1.1.10 Refers to the contractor finding a suitable location to recycle linens.
a. Can the VA provide the current recycling location ? Are there restrictions on the usage? Amendment 2, posted 11/13/24, updates this language.
b. Other facilities have required them to be turned into rags, so that they cannot be reused and that limits options, while increasing the costs. We are committed to recycling if it means turning into rags so that they cannot be reused.
10. 1.1.9 Does this include only pre-consumer food waste or also post-consumer? This is pre-consumer food waste only.
11. 1.2 The SOW shows 8 am as the hours, could this be updated to 6 or 7 am? Typically, these services are early to avoid traffic. It is permissible for you to come in at 6:00am or 7:00am to avoid traffic.
12. The SOW also refers to the cost for Liners. Will you consider adding a separate CLIN for Liner costs? Separate CLIN added for the liners.
