Description
Israel Rail's innovation department is currently focusing on 2 key areas – improving accessibility for passengers with disabilities and developing autonomous signage solutions for railway maintenance.
1. Automated washing solutions for overhead electrification lines
Israel Rail seeks efficient and effective automated solutions for cleaning insulators and signal posts of overhead electrification lines, specifically designed for electric railway applications.
The challenges are that the manual cleaning of insulators and signal posts is time-consuming, labour-intensive, and can be challenging to perform regularly. This could potentially lead to reduced efficiency and increased maintenance needs.
For their proposed solution, Israel Rail are are looking for automated washing systems for insulators and signal posts. Solutions should be tailored for the specific requirements of overhead electrification lines. The systems should be suitable for electric railway environments.
2. Developing autonomous signage for railway maintenance
Israel Rail's aim is to enhance the efficiency and safety of daily maintenance operations near and on railway tracks.
The challenge is that current deployment and collection of signage consume significant time and resources. An automated signage solution is required.
Solutions are needed for placing signs at varying distances from maintenance sites.
Signage:
• should be autonomously or remotely controlled
• should offer versatile display options (remote sign changes)
• must operate reliably in all weather conditions
For their proposed solution, Israel Rail are seeking signage solutions for field testing. Solutions must be based on technological and engineering innovations.
3. Technological solutions for platform-to-train accessibility
Israel Rail requires innovative technological and engineering solutions to improve independent accessibility for passengers with disabilities between the station platform and the train carriage.
Height differences (approximately 10 to 30cm) between platforms and train carriages pose significant challenges.
The proposed solution is to mitigate these height differences. Solutions should be applicable for implementation on either the train carriage or the platform. Israel Rail are open to any and all end-to-end accessibility solutions.
