Description
With over 42,000 students, the University of Hamburg (UHH) is the largest university in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the largest research and educational institution in northern Germany and one of the largest universities in Germany. Located in the heart of the Free Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the university offers a wide range of courses and excellent research.
The aim of the tender is to supply a confocal microscope that enables measurements using fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). This allows three-dimensional images of biological samples to be generated with high spatial and temporal resolution while filtering out interference signals such as autofluorescence. Furthermore, FLIM-based fluorescence resonance energy transfer measurements (FLIM-FRET) are to be carried out in order to quantitatively record nanoscale molecular interactions.
Several research projects at the Institute of Cell and Systems Biology of Animals (IZS) of the Department of Biology at the University of Hamburg (UHH) and the neighboring Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Department of Chemistry aim to mechanistically understand complex molecular processes in multicellular organisms. The main project is located in the research group of Prof. Dr. Tursun and involves the documentation of changes in cell structures and gene expression during the reprogramming of cell identities in the nematode C. elegans. The instrument is operated by the Technology Platform Light Microscopy (TPLM) of the UHH.
