Description
E1O2RT9 In 2021, the Ministry of Social Development and Family through the Executive Secretariat of Elige Vivir Sano and the collaboration with the INTA of the University of Chile, conducted a pilot intervention in the regions of Atacama, O'Higgins and Metropolitan aimed at promoting water consumption in school children who are beneficiaries of the School Feeding Program. This initiative had two components; the delivery of reusable bottles and educational material, videos and brochures promoting water consumption. The results of this pilot were positive, since 12.7% of the participants started to consume water as their main source of hydration and 9.3% of the students stopped consuming drinks and juices with sugar. Given these positive results, the initiative is expected to be replicated in all regions of the country. This will contribute to the objective of Law 20.670, which seeks to promote healthy habits and lifestyles to improve people's quality of life and wellbeing.
