Description
The Ministry of Forests has a property on Crown Land near the village of Pemberton for the operation of the Pemberton Fire Zone. The Fire Base Zone is located in close proximity with a main highway, near the village of Pemberton. The Ministry is seeking to develop the fire zone and provide sufficient and healthyworkspace for the current and projected staffing levels. The zone houses BC Wildfire Staff on a permanent basis and may have seasonal crews working there depending on fire incidents and their locations. The zone is situated between two riverbeds and near the Pemberton airport. The village of Pemberton issued evacuation orders due to flooding in the area inJanuary 2024. A landslide risk of Mount Currie was assessed in 2018. Furthermore, the existing septic field does not meet current requirements and is of a significant age.The Ministry wishes to procure a consultant company to conduct a thorough study to mitigate the risks associated with flooding for the zone and develop a plan withoptions and costing estimates. Additionally, the consulting company shall study the existing septic field to assess its conditions and evaluate an expansion/replacement with costing estimates. The objective is to provide enough evidence and cost estimation to allow the Ministry to assess whether the zone should remain it its current location, or if safety concerns and cost prohibitive solutions will force relocation of staff to a different area.Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
