Description

A science park and innovative business park with an area of around 52 hectares (hereinafter referred to as "Brainergy Park Jülich") is to be built on the site of the former transmission facility on the outskirts of Jülich and in the immediate vicinity of the Aachen University of Applied Sciences campus. The sponsor of Brainergy Park Jülich is the client. The shareholders of the AG are the municipalities of Jülich, Niederzier, Titz and the district of Düren.
The site is intended to meet the requirements of an innovative business park and serve as a demonstration platform or real laboratory for the energy management of the future. As a supra-regional flagship project, the Brainergy Park Jülich plays an outstanding role in the structural change in the Rhenish lignite mining area.
An approx. 7-hectare section of the Brainergy Park Jülich site is to be developed into the so-called Brainergy Village and will be predominantly science-oriented. The Brainergy Village offers space and networking opportunities for companies with an affinity for technology and transfer-oriented areas of the research institutions located there. In particular, it serves as a demonstration platform for the energy management of the future. The area to the north of the Brainergy Village will mainly be used for commercial purposes and will also contain production areas.
The central component of Brainergy Park Jülich will be the "Brainergy Hub" innovation and start-up center, which will offer space for a restaurant, innovative office areas, networking areas, conference areas and meeting and project rooms for start-ups, those interested in founding a company, research departments and small companies on an area of approx. 9,700 m² gross floor area.

Archaeological investigations are required to prepare the ground for the construction of the Brainergy Hub. In the course of the investigation, the need for an investigation in a further investigation area with an area of approx. 3600m² was identified. These investigations in the 2nd investigation area are the subject of the award procedure.
