Description

The aim of this contract is to identify the forest roads in the Vosges department that can be used by firefighters (SDIS) in their firefighting missions.

The Vosges region is heavily forested, and among the 500 of the department's 507 "forested" communes, there are both large forest complexes and highly fragmented forests. The challenge for firefighters is to be able to safely reach the heart of these large forest areas. The main focus is on the wooded areas of the department's major forest complexes, which are covered by a total of some 7,600 km of paths and 4,500 km of gravel roads. Some of these roads and tracks are already used by forestry services and are dedicated to logging truck traffic.

The study area covers all the forest areas (state, communal and private forests) in the Vosges department. However, for the purposes of this contract, priority is given to the 144 communes in the Vosges massif. This priority is reflected in a firm tranche, supplemented for the rest of the department by 2 optional tranches. Optional tranche no. 1 concerns the characterization of the DFCI service in the southern part of the department, corresponding to the territory of the Forêt d'exception® de Darney-la-Vôge, and optional tranche no. 2 concerns the characterization of the DFCI service in the rest of the department.
