Description
Metro Water owns and operates two water treatment plants, Little Cottonwood Water Treatment Plant and Point of Mountain Water Treatment Plant, (collectively called the “Treatment Plants”). The Treatment Plants have full conventional treatment. Liquid oxygen is used during on-site production of ozone gas. Ozone gas acts as a primary disinfectant in the treatment process and also provides positive aesthetic benefits in the finished water. Both Treatment Plants have different volume requirements for liquid oxygen. Some physical differences between Treatment Plants exist with respect to storage and use of liquid oxygen. The LCWTP has two 21,000 gallon storage tanks; one tank is in service. The POMWTP has one 13,000 gallon storage tank. All liquid oxygen tanks are owned by the District.
