Description
VGN Resources Group Inc. (VGN) will be the Program Administrator for projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's (Ministry) extension programming for environment and climate change. This RFP and project is administered by VGN on behalf of the Ministry. The Ministry of Agriculture & Food is issuing a competition for a project that will conduct an extensive literature review to identify and evaluate alternative crops that are successful in comparable climatic and soil conditions outside of British Columbia and may be suitable for key regions in the province. These key regions are identified as the Lower Mainland, Okanagan-Similkameen, Vancouver Island, and Kootenay-Boundary. The goal is to then further assess the economic viability of these alternative crops, analyzing their ability to offer a sustainable income for farmers in British Columbia. Additionally, the proposal should utilize climate projections to pinpoint regions experiencing micro-climates similar to those anticipated to emerge in B.C. by a specified target year (e.g., 2035).Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
