Background and Purpose: The Directorate of Public Works (DPW) provides support to the Fort Irwin, California (CA) Garrison Command and its major tenant organizations, which together currently utilize approximately 1648 buildings and structures consisting of approximately 8.9 million square feet on the installation.
U.S. Army Garrison Fort Irwin, CA, provides training for Combat Support (CS) and CombatService Support (CSS) units in the Western United States. Fort Irwin comprises more than 763,474 acres of un-encroached mountains. valleys, and plains. There are several major military tenant organizations at Fort Irwin: the Operations Group; the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment: The Joint Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Defeat Organization and the 916th Support Brigade.
The customer for this acquisition is the U.S. Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) in support of the United States Army Garrison (USAG) Ft. Irwin.
