Description
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen owns and operates the Missezula Lake Water System (MLWS); a small water system located 45 kilometers north of Princeton, B.C. The system provides drinking water to approximately 190 residential/seasonal lots.In 2002 an upgrade project was carried out which replaced the creek intake with a raw water intake in Missezula Lake. This upgrade project also included the construction of the chlorination building, chlorine contact chamber, high lift pump station, and emergency power supply generator building. As a result of increased water quality challenges, additional treatment of the lake source water is required.A 2023/24 study was conducted to explore a variety of source water options and concluded that the lake source is the most sensible option. As such, this project will begin with the Regional District and Consultant completing a thorough review of the proposed project plan, based on the results of the Conceptual Design Options report and other background information.
