Pre-Viewing Packagefor Sproule Creek FSR NEW construction in the BCTS Kootenay Business Area Contract No. EN25TFD012 BC Timber Sales, Kootenay Business Area, may be tendering a FSR construction contract in the Kootenay Lake Timber Supply Area – Smallwood Operating Area. Due to the location of this proposed contract, seasonal weather conditions may prohibit viewing at the time of the advertisement. A pre-viewing package for FSR construction in the Kootenay Lake Timber Supply area is being made available to allow for prospective bidders to view sites prior to the tender advertisement expected sometime during the winter of 2024/25.The information provided in this package is considered to be in draft form and is intended to provide an overview of the potential contract that may be advertised and access for viewing of the sites. The information is subject to change. Note this list does not identify routine safety hazards associated with forestry operations:• Steep and potentially unstable slopes• Steep side slopes – see road design and cross sections for details• Congestion • Mud or snow conditions anticipated within the term of the contract• Hand felling of trees, including snags and possibly danger trees.• Potential high recreational traffic on access• Deep fill construction• Excavation hazards• Narrow road sections• Local traffic without radios• Rock blasting• Wildlife• Log hauling on access roads• Harvesting hazards of R/W timber• Adjacent timber harvesting operations• Large culvert installationsScopeThe purpose of this planned contract is to construct two spur roads, NEW Forest Service Road (FSR):Rixen – 1.385 kmLower Sproule 4300 – 0.921 kmConstruction must achieve the specifications detailed in geometric road designs provided for each road length.
