Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS) is planning extensive structural and technical measures to renovate and modernize its headquarters in Langen. The "Control Center" building complex (hereinafter referred to as Building CC) will be modernized in several stages (two construction phases) over the next few years during ongoing operations in order to adapt it to the new requirements. The requirements are made up of Requirements for use for future air traffic control operations, requirements for use in the future administrative office areas, technical requirements for the renewal of the building services systems , requirements for energy optimization, in accordance with GEG 2024, adaptations to the changed external conditions due to climate change.
The Langen regional control center (Building CC) was planned in the 1980s and completed in 1993. The main building services systems are over 30 years old and were partially replaced as part of product management measures. An extension was planned in 2005 for a major system change, which went into operation in 2007. The next fundamental system change is currently pending and cannot be implemented in the existing extension. Therefore, operating room 1 and the associated administrative areas must be renovated and modernized for the next system change. The extension itself is not part of the modernization. The associated building services will be adapted or replaced in line with the latest energy requirements.
