Germany - Cooperative area management of grassland conservation areas Bremen 2025-2027

Description

In order to promote the development of around 5,600 ha of grassland conservation areas and compensation areas in Bremen, a cross-area management scheme is to be implemented from 2025-2027, which will serve, among other things, to safeguard and improve the conservation status of species and habitats in need of protection and to further develop cooperation between nature conservation and agriculture. The field work and contact tasks as part of the local support are to be carried out by area-based teams with very good nature conservation qualifications and communication skills. They are the point of contact for questions from the client and the nature conservation authority as well as local stakeholders and improve the acceptance of nature conservation measures in the areas through good local networking. Tasks include regular site inspections, including recording agricultural use and water levels, carrying out management-related breeding bird and vegetation monitoring, acting as a point of contact for farmers' questions, developing proposals for measures and helping to plan annual measures. The activities are to be documented in regular protocols, short reports with GIS maps (ESRI ArcGIS). Participation in area-related and overarching working groups and advisory board meetings is required.

The project is funded by the European Union. The application for funding was submitted by the Senator for the Environment, Climate and Science at the end of August 2024, but funding has not yet been approved. As the tendered services are scheduled to start at the beginning of 2025, the tendering process must begin before the funding decision is submitted due to the duration of the award procedure. The awarding authority reserves the right to cancel the award procedure if the funding application is not approved.
