Description

The Commission wishes to retain the services of a company for assistance services in the event of a medical emergency abroad.

The construction industry is a major economic driver and a vital sector of activity in Quebec. Hundreds of thousands of people and companies are involved. Created in 1987, ORGANISME PUBLIC is the organization responsible for applying Law R-20, which governs the industry. This law entrusts the ORGANISME PUBLIC with several functions, including the administration of employee benefit plans for the construction industry. Through MÉDIC Construction, the ORGANISME PUBLIC administers private, self-insured group insurance plans reserved for industry members and financed entirely by them.

In 2023, these plans provided insurance coverage for nearly 179,000 employees and over 212,000 dependents. Employees covered by the MÉDIC Construction insurance plans listed in Article 87 of the Regulations benefit from coverage in the event of an accident or medical emergency abroad that requires a hospital stay. In particular, this coverage pays for : - medical and hospitalization expenses; - medical repatriation; - various transportation expenses; - repatriation of remains in the event of death; - certain living expenses; - return of vehicle; - medical consultations; - Etc.

This call for tenders is not subject to the provisions of the Act respecting contracting by public bodies (RLRQ c. C-65.1), as the Commission does not spend public funds, being financed on the basis of a deduction from the remuneration paid to employees by employers in the construction industry.
