As part of the hospital-wide expansion of digital patient data management (PDMS), network infrastructures need to be expanded in our intensive care units, operating theaters and various functional areas. Only switches and network technology from Extreme Network and Microsense are used at Düsseldorf University Hospital. Highly sensitive data is processed at Düsseldorf University Hospital and is therefore part of the critical infrastructure (KRITIS). In order to ensure the trouble-free and secure operation of the critical network infrastructure with highly sensitive personal data, it is necessary for the networked network components to communicate with each other without the influence of a third-party manufacturer. The new switches to be procured must be easily and securely integrated into the UKD's existing infrastructure. The use of network components from Extreme and Microsense is therefore mandatory.
