Description
Altenwalde stop:
The city of Cuxhaven is planning to reactivate a railroad stop in the Altenwalde district. The project includes the construction of the "Altenwalde" station in order to create a regional rail link to the Cuxhaven - Bremerhaven railroad line in the future. The project essentially comprises the new construction of a 175-metre-long outer platform with the measures required on the railroad side in the Altenwalde district, in the area of the level crossing on Robert-Koch-Straße. The planned station is located on the Cuxhaven - Bremerhaven railroad line (VzG 1310) on the Nordholz - Cuxhaven section. Regional trains currently run on the approximately 80 km long, non-electrified line every hour. According to the forecast data from LNVG and the railroad company, around 300 passengers boarding and alighting per day in both directions can be expected in future. The location of the platform to the level crossing has not yet been determined and must be found in the course of further planning. As a result of the coordination processes to date, the variant of the facility in the area north-east of the level crossing is currently assumed.
