This notice is intended strictly for market research. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to determine the following:

The interest and capability of small business, especially service disabled veteran owned small business and veteran owned small business;

Whether the business source is a manufacturer or authorized distributor, verified by an authorization letter from the original equipment manufacturer; and

Size classification relative to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 339112 for the proposed acquisition.

Contractor shall provide PROVEO Microscope or equivalent to Detroit VA Medical Center. Microscope shall be considered equal if it has the following salient characteristics:

The ophthalmic surgical microscope must have IOL guidance and intraoperative OCT capabilities with high quality multidirectional illumination device, preferably comparable to the CoAx4, as the eye must be properly lit for safe and quality procedures. A footswitch is needed to adjust any other illumination needs for different pupil sizes during the procedure as the surgeon s hands must be free to operate. A 3D capability on screen is crucial for accurate surgical procedures as depth is a constant consideration during cutting. We also will need programmable settings for anterior and posterior procedures, allowing for fast transition between phases of surgeries; additionally, fast focus technology is needed to alter the optics of the microscope for placement of MIGS during glaucoma surgeries. A contact-free wide-angle observation capability must be included for use during vitreous surgery that does not physically contact the cornea. An integrated HD/3D camera is a must and should have independent controls for customization. The microscope should also be one that is capable of upgrades in the future, so that the life of the equipment is maximized.
