The consultant will prepare a comprehensive profile for the foodtech industry in the Metro Vancouver region, focusing on:The companies and organizations within the industry and subindustries where the region has particular strengths (Invest Vancouver has developed a preliminary list of foodtech companies which will be shared with the consultant).Existing integration and opportunities for further integration of the region’s foodtech industry with nearby food-producing areas, particularly in other parts of BC. Ways in which foodtech innovation can advance provincial priorities such as food sustainability and sovereignty, Indigenous reconciliation, and strengthened provincial supply chains (e.g., nearshoring).The region’s value-proposition (e.g., talent, ecosystem) and the key factors that set the Metro Vancouver region apart from other competing jurisdictions, including comparisons to relevant competitor jurisdictions.Priorities to catalyze significant and sustainable growth. What, if anything, could be done to strengthen the regional value-proposition? What are the impediments? Key messaging to promote the industry and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the region in the short, medium, and long term.
