In this session, we will hear from Steve Whettingsteel, CEO and Managing Director at Krysteline Technologies. Steve has extensive experience in developing engineered solutions for the waste management sector and has developed technologies and a strategy which supports not only the recovery of glass for new bottle production but also the capability to produce high quality fully refined sands and powders. Maximising the economic benefit of all glass no matter its size or quality dramatically decreases the carbon footprint of glass recycling and meets the fundamentals of a circular economy which is focused on an ultra low CO2 footprint.
Krysteline has been exporting its technology globally for the past 25 years Its principal markets have been Australia and Asia, Europe, Central America and Canada, it has also been successful in the provision of its technology to Islands in all regions of the world, with 88% of sales in 2022 exported.
Steve says research from diverse sources is key to any potential market and take your time to understand the market dynamics which determine why a client would be motivated to consider you. Always assess the value of your product - is it economically viable from the user perspective? Build relationships with stakeholders and remember, in a new market, it’s 95% education and 5% selling.

Steve Whettingsteel is the founder and CEO of Krysteline Technologies Ltd, a developer of specialised engineered solutions for the waste management sector, particularly in the recovery and refinement of glass.
Since its formation in 1999 Krysteline has been exporting, with machines being sold around the world. Early customers including; the British Antarctic Survey, a laboratory in the Falkland Islands, super yachts, hotels and pharmaceutical companies.
