Heyn van Rooyen leads DBT's efforts in the healthcare and life sciences sector across Africa, working to enhance trade and investment partnerships between the UK and countries on the continent. His responsibilities include identifying key opportunities, developing sector strategies, and supporting UK companies in navigating African markets. With a background that includes extensive experience, including in the South African Diplomatic Corps and the healthcare sector, Heyn van Rooyen brings a wealth of expertise to his role in driving growth and collaboration in this critical area.

Sharif Sabri

Deputy Sector Director for Healthcare and Life Sciences – Africa, Department for Business and Trade

Sharif is involved in supporting the UK's trade and investment objectives within the healthcare and life sciences sectors across the African continent, and developing the healthcare strategy with the sector director, his work contributes to fostering collaboration and identifying opportunities for UK businesses in the region's growing healthcare sub-sectors, with senior trade advisers in African countries. Prior to his role now with DBT, Sharif has held positions including Senior Trade Adviser for Healthcare and Education at the British Embassy in Cairo and has a background that includes experience in pharmaceutical products development, healthcare imaging, and fast-moving goods in North Africa and the middle east.
