Environment and trade opportunities

The Nordic and Baltic region has an educated and open economy, receptive to UK products and investments. The countries offer a supportive political and economic framework for business development, as well as local and foreign investments.

There's a market for a wide range of UK goods and services across sustainability. Current opportunities include:

UN DK

UN procurement

Copenhagen is now the second most important procurement centre outside Geneva for the UN. Major international agencies include the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The main areas of procurement are medicine, emergency equipment, medical devices, water and sanitation.

Proptech GGT

PropTech

Opportunities for UK companies in Denmark also exist in PropTech. Solutions and innovative technologies to drive both efficiency improvements and fundamental transformations will be needed.

Offshore (1)

Offshore wind

The emerging offshore wind market in the Baltics offers great opportunities for UK companies. This involves sharing best practice, projecting the UK’s leadership in clean growth and offering new opportunities for engagement. Opportunities for UK companies include consultancy, development, project delivery, operations and maintenance.

Aviation

Low emission aviation

Norway’s commitment to have low emission (electric) domestic flights by 2040 offers opportunity for collaboration and R&D between the UK’s world-leading aviation industry and Norway's own. Norway is creating a testbed market and is pursuing international cooperation in this area, while also introducing biofuels for long-haul flights.
