Expand your UK business in Nordic-Baltic markets
The Nordic-Baltic region offers great opportunities for UK businesses looking to grow overseas
This group of countries - Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden are leading the way in sustainable innovation and green technology adoption, with strong commitments to achieving net-zero targets and developing clean energy solutions, alongside the UK's vision for a sustainable future.

Environment and trade opportunities
The Nordic and Baltic region has an educated and open economy, receptive to UK products and investments. The countries offer a supportive political and economic framework for business development, as well as local and foreign investments.
There's a market for a wide range of UK goods and services across sustainability. Current opportunities include:

UN procurement
Copenhagen is now the second most important procurement centre outside Geneva for the UN. Major international agencies include the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The main areas of procurement are medicine, emergency equipment, medical devices, water and sanitation.

Railway
Sweden aims to further modernise its railway network and increase capacity by building new passenger lines between its biggest cities. It will also digitalise the network to make operations and maintenance more efficient. There are opportunities in many areas of the rail supply chain.

Offshore wind
The emerging offshore wind market in the Baltics offers great opportunities for UK companies. This involves sharing best practice, projecting the UK’s leadership in clean growth and offering new opportunities for engagement. Opportunities for UK companies include consultancy, development, project delivery, operations and maintenance.

PropTech
Opportunities for UK companies in Denmark also exist in PropTech. Solutions and innovative technologies to drive both efficiency improvements and fundamental transformations will be needed.
